CLIMATE

Ljubljana lies in basin between the Alpine and Karst region. It is also influenced by the Mediterranean streams, in summer this means nice hot weather, with July/August average temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius.
In the winter the average temperatures range from 0 to 5 degrees Celsius and as Ljubljana lies in a basin, the weather is influenced by temperature inversion – and this means "wet".


CREDIT CARDS

Credit and debit cards like Visa, MasterCard or American Express are widely accepted by all the tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants. However, you can still find some small bars or shops that deal with cash only.


CURRENCY

The Slovenian currency is the Euro (€). The majority of stores accept international credit and payment cards. There is also a wide network of ATMs where you can withdraw cash.


ELECTRICITY

In Slovenia the power plugs and sockets are of type F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

LANGUAGE

In Slovenia the official language is Slovene (or Slovenian), which is similar to other Slavic languages, particularly close to Serbian and Croatian, and uses the Latin alphabet.
Many Slovenes speak English very well, some use German and Italian as a foreign language.


TIME

Slovenia is in the Central European Time Zone. Central European Standard Time (CET) is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+1).
